What’s Happening | December 11, 12, 13

Shippensburg

  • Tiny World, 6720 Rice Rd. is a miniature village whose tiny buildings are landscaped, lighted and furnished.  Admission is free, but donations are accepted.  Santa will be visiting on Saturday, December 12th 6 p.m & Saturday, December 19th 6 p.m.
  • West End Fire & Rescue Company, 49 Lurgan Ave, Shippensburg is holding their Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 12th from 9 am – 11 am.  Menu includes pancakes, sausage, fruit salad, juice, chocolate milk, and coffee.  Door prizes, craft & activities.  Advance tickets are available at The Hair Cottage Salon or by contacting Samantha White at 717-658-9388. Cost $5 Adults; $3 Children (Ages 3 – 11); 2 and under free.
  • Santa will be stopping by Southampton Cumberland Twp. for milk and cookies on Saturday Dec. 12th at 3 pm. Come out and meet Santa and watch holiday Movies. Kids can write letters to Santa and also get their picture taken with him. FREE event. Location: 56 Cleversburg Rd. (The Multi-Purpose Building).
  • The Ridge Church of the Brethren will hold a “Live Nativity Re-enactment” on Friday, Dec. 11, and Saturday, Dec. 12. The shows will start at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. each night. The nativity has more than 30 characters that will dress in Biblical costumes and live animals. The event is held outside on the church property at 1095 Ridge Road, Shippensburg. Guests can bring a lawn chair, stand, or remain in their parked vehicles. Refreshments will be provided after the show inside the church.
  • The Towne Singers will be presenting a Holiday concert on Sunday, Dec 13th 7 pm at Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange St., Shippensburg
  • The Thought Lot: Saturday December 12th is a benefit show for The King’s Kettle Food bank featuring some great local talent! Doors open at 2 pm and music starts at 3 pm. Admission is $5 or 5 non perishable food items. All ages are welcome.
  • Evan Crider is Hosting Open Mic Night at The Local Gathering on December 11. 7-10pm. Doors open at 6pm. Barista bar is available.  The Local Gathering Church of the Nazarene, 611 Shippensburg Rd. Shippensburg.(Newburg Rd Rt. 696 from Shippensburg; Half Mile past the Ridge Road )

Fayetteville

  • Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 12th.  Breakfast will be served starting at 7 am.  Santa arrives at 8:00 am. This event will be held in the social building behind the fire station, 101 W. Main Street, Fayetteville.   Adults $5; Children under 10 free.

Newburg

  • Beam’s Blue Mountain Farm, Lurgan Rd, Newburg will be having their craft open house at the farm on December 10, 11, & 12 from 9am to 6pm.  Free refreshments.  Antiques, handmade country decor, primitive items, Swan candles and more! Receive a free ornament with a $25 purchase.
  • Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday, December 12th from 8 am – 10 am. The event is held at the Hopewell Township building on Three Square Hollow Road.  Adults $8; Children 6 – 12 $3; under 5 free.  An auction will be held at 9am.

Chambersburg

  • Vintage Market at the Old Red Barn, 1293 Warm Spring Rd, Chambersburg will be having a Holiday Open House on December 11, 12, and 13!  Furniture, holiday items, designer decor & more.  On December 12th from 1 – 3, Santa will be there for the kids with free digital pictures for the parents. Open the second weekend of each month Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. 
  • Le PeTiT CiRqUe de Noel – December 12th 7 PM – The Capitol Theatre, Chambersburg. A pint sized cirque style holiday show about a young boy who is visited by an angel and toys that come to life to learn the true meaning of Giving. All Tickets $10!
  • St. Paul UM Church will be having a Gift & Craft Show Saturday, December 12th 9am – 2 pm.  St. Paul UMC is located at 750 Norland Ave, Chambersburg.
  • Dilly’s in Chambersburg is hosting a Kid’s Christmas Party on Sunday, December 13th 2 – 4 pm.  Free Pizza & Soda for Kids 10 & Under.  Santa will be there.
  • Franklin Hardware & Pet Center, 1975 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg is having their 17th Annual Pet Extravaganza Sale with Free Pet Photos with Santa.  On Friday, December 11th from 4 pm – 7 pm a photographer will be taking Free 4×6″ photos which will be available for pick up on December 14th.  The Pet Extravaganza Sale will also include refreshments, hourly door prizes, and deals. The entire store is 20% off from 4pm – 7pm!  The 20% discount is only valid on store products and excludes items in warehouse, shed, and yards.  Limit of 5 bags cat/dog food.  Also receive, 50% off all Christmas decorations all day.

Carlisle

  • Roots Cut Flower Farm, 2428 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle is have a Holiday POP-UP Shop!  Their Wreath Sale Open House will be held Saturday, December 12. Christmas Wreaths, Arrangements, Garland, Rosemary Topiaries, Succulent Gardens, Roots T-Shirts, Santa Wood Carvings by Paul Hoch, Block Printed Ornaments & Cards by Carol Reed and Stone Carved Bird Baths by Mike Elston! Hours:  10 am – 4 pm
  • Meadowbrooke Gourds located at 125 Potato Road Carlisle, is having its Winter Workshop on December 12 & 13 from 10 am – 3 pm.  Make your own Winter gourd – you can make carolers, Santa, snowmen, angels, ornaments, Winter scenes, & more!  No reservation is needed for this event. All ages are welcome. There is a charge for the workshops. The prices range from $2 to $41 depending on the gourd you choose to create.
  • On Sunday, December 13th from 12 pm to 4 pm each day, enjoy the opportunity to explore the Cameron-Masland Mansion, 500 Kings Gap Road, Carlisle. Take a self-guided tour of both floors of the mansion in seasonal decor. Music will be provided by Steve Jewett playing guitar and mandolin on December 13th. Light refreshments will be offered.
  • Benchfield Farms will be offering Carriage rides in downtown Carlisle (weather permitting) on Friday, December 11 6 pm – 9 pm and Saturday, December 12 5 pm – 9 pm. Carriage rides will cost $5 for Adults, $3 Children Ages 6 -12, children 5 and under are free. Rides will load and unload next to the Old Courthouse at Hanover and High streets. Private carriage rides will cost $25.00; reservations are not required, but recommended. To reserve a private or larger group ride with Benchfield Farms Carriage call 717-269-8554. More dates here.
  • Carlisle Children’s Choir Christmas Concert will be Friday, December 11, 7 pm, Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle. Concert is FREE, donations accepted. Come and enjoy the sweet sounds of two children’s choir – 61 singers in all!

Gettysburg

  • Holiday House Tour & Tasting on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 12 PM to 5 PM. A self-guided tour of the historic homes, inns and properties of Gettysburg decorated for the holiday season. Taste specialty dishes prepared by the inns and local wines too. All proceeds will benefit the South Central Community Action Program. Tickets $15 (If you stay at a participating Inn for the weekend of December 12th, the Holiday House tour is free).
  • Totem Pole Presents A Christmas Carol Thu, 12/10/2015  2 pm – Sun, 12/13/2015 – 2 pm Location: The Majestic Theater, 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. Thurs., 2 p.m.; Fri., 8 p.m.; Sat., 2 & 8 p.m.; Sun., 2 p.m. Rediscover the magic of the Christmas Spirit with this holiday classic. $20-$36/person.

Greencastle

  • Brunch with Santa Sunday, December 13, 2015 10 am – Last Reservation time 3 pm at Green Grove Gardens, 1032 Buchanan Trail East in Greencastle.  Adults $15 Children $10 Call  (717) 597-0800

McConnellsburg

  • The Fulton County Festival of Lights is a “Drive Through” Christmas Light Display located at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in McConnellsburg. The Christmas Light Displays are set up along the roadways throughout the fairgrounds where visitors will drive through the event in their own vehicles.  The 2015 Festival of Lights will be held Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12. The times are 5 pm – 10 pm on both nights.  Visitors to the light display enter through the upper fairgrounds gate and pay $4 per vehicle. Read more HERE.
